Best mochi you'll find and very reasonable prices. I'm particularly fond of the white bean peach mochi.
All the mochi is so good, I especially love the mochi with smooth bean paste
If anyone has head of Osakaya in Sacramento, this place is just like Osakaya. Small. Lots of good mochi. However, I dont think its worth the drive for the most part. In a run down part of town. There are a few japanese restaurants nearby. I think if you are going to the living coast discovery center, it is a good idea to come here cause this place is very close by.
Really good mochi and super friendly! This small mom and pop shop is a little run down as they have been in the same location for 30 years, but man can they make mochi! They have a pretty decent selection with different fillings and designs. The texture of the mochi is amazing! Definitely coming back if I'm ever in the SD area!
I love eating manju and it was a good place to go pick up some for my parents. The owner who worked there was very friendly and wasn't really in the mood to be in the picture :D
The couple that works here are very friendly. The woman is especially nice to her customers and loves to keep Good conversation going. In this shop, you are more like a member than a customer. You're not just another face. I wish they had more variety, which is why I gave them fewer than 5 stars, but it's wonderful to frequent.
Come here to get monchi love this spot .
Best place to get Mochi in the south bay
This was the best mochi I've ever had. Very soft, chewy, and beautiful designs. Way better than any mochi from a food market
Open Wednesday through Saturday, and as of my visit mochi are $1.85 each. These mochi were delicious, and beautifully made! The plain mochi (pink and yellow stripe in pictures) was fresh, delicately chewy, and lightly fluffy---the perfect mochi consistency for my taste! I recommend calling before you go in, to make sure they are open and check product availability. There are some beverages and various Asian snacks available as well in the small storefront. The owners are around 70, and the thought that they might retire some day makes me sad, as I just found them and need them in my future forever.
Great place to get Japanese traditional treats
Very delicious mochi that I couldn't believe I could find in San Diego. The owners are such nice people.
Selection is small but quality is top notch. ãŠã„ã—!
There are only a few places that make mochi and manju fresh on the west coast. This is one of the remaining gems. A bit on the sweet side for me but my granddaughter says it was like eating a Japanese marshmallow as it was so soft.
Hogetsu Bakery is a cute little husband and wife owned japanese bakery. The mochi they have here, which her husband hand makes, is very soft, cutely shaped, and delicious; they come plain, filled with red bean, or filled with white bean. I enjoy all three varieties but my favorites are definitely the white bean filled shaped mochi however, it's different for each person. The white bean mochi have a delicate and slightly sweet flavor; they are very well made, you can tell a lot of time and passion goes into making them.
Cash only. Family owned by the Takeda's. ~$1.60 and $1.70 per mochi/ manju. Steamed and baked mochi/ manju with white and red bean filling. Sometimes egg yolk as well.
been there before. I like Japanese sweets
Cute Japanese cake shop owned by sweet old Japanese couple. They make great mochi!
Mochi, lots of variety.
Their green tea mochi is so good!!!!
I really love the Japanese teacakes and the older Japanese lady here. So beautiful and delicious. Happy that this gem is still there.
Great Mochi, super soft, amazing owners!
Tasty Japanese treats. Grumpy female owner. Cash only.
The strawberry mochi was amazing. Perfect balance of favor, sweetness, and texture. So good! Also the the owners are some of the sweetest people I've ever met. The couple have been running their shop for 35 years and still treated me as if it was opening week. I'll definitely be back to try some more sweets and a pleasant chat.
Great place to visit, excellent wagashi, awesome service.😃
Best Japanese Bakery in the South Bay. I have been visiting there for over a decade!
